About

Together Alone explores the complex emotional experience of being physically close to another person while feeling either deeply connected or entirely separate. Miche Watkins presents a subject that invites reflection on the difference between physical proximity and genuine companionship. The title itself captures this contrast, suggesting that togetherness and solitude are not always opposites.

The artist leaves the meaning of the work open, acknowledging that sitting beside someone can create loneliness for one person and complete peace for another. This ambiguity allows the painting to speak to different experiences of relationships, companionship and emotional independence. Rather than prescribing a particular interpretation, Watkins invites the viewer to decide what the scene means to them.

Together Alone offers a thoughtful exploration of the private emotions that can exist beneath everyday interactions. Its accessible subject and open-ended meaning encourage personal reflection, making it a compelling work for collectors who appreciate art that connects ordinary experiences with deeper questions about human relationships. The painting reminds us that the quality of a connection is not always measured by physical closeness, but by how we feel in another person's presence.
