About

The Quarrel is a philosophical symbolic composition exploring the nature of human conflict as an inner fracture of consciousness rather than a simple confrontation between individuals. The artist presents discord as a gradual spiritual process in which harmony is first lost within the self before it manifests in relationships with others. The divided human face, the powerful crimson beast, the green serpent, the contemplative elder, the theatrical mask, and the pyramid form an intricate symbolic language describing the tension between reason and instinct, wisdom and impulse, reconciliation and destruction.

Executed in mixed media on paper, the work combines multilayered symbolism, an elaborate ornamental composition, and a dramatic palette of burgundies, crimson reds, violets, muted blue-greens, and silvery tones. The painting suggests that every external conflict begins long before words are spoken, at the moment when inner unity gives way to division, and the desire to understand another person is gradually replaced by the need to prevail.
