With her eyes gently closed, the woman in Reverie seems to have withdrawn from the world around her and slipped quietly into her own thoughts. Her face is built from cool turquoise, icy blue and soft grey, suddenly interrupted by vivid pinks, coral and flashes of electric blue.
The layers of colour appear almost to drift across her features, giving the impression of thoughts passing through rather than settling into one fixed emotion.Loose brushwork, scattered splashes and translucent passages create a surface that feels spontaneous and deeply personal.
The closed eyes are central to the feeling of the painting: there is no outward performance or attempt to communicate, only the private stillness of someone lost in thought. The strong pink and red around the cheek and mouth bring warmth to an otherwise cool image, hinting at memories or emotions beneath the calm exterior.
