About

Pastel No.2 continues Forsythe’s exploration of colour, vibrancy and materiality within her Pastel Series. Resin and acrylic combine to create a small yet expressive work in which colour becomes the primary vehicle for mood and visual energy. The compact scale gives the piece an intimate quality while allowing its vibrant character to remain immediately engaging.

The Pastel Series emerged from an experimental stage in Forsythe’s practice, providing an opportunity to explore the colour palette she naturally gravitates towards. Rather than relying on one signature colour, she embraces vibrancy as a consistent element, allowing each work to develop its own character through colour and form. The resulting compositions feel light, optimistic and accessible while retaining the distinctive material presence of resin.

Pastel No.2 embodies the series’ central sense of joy through its combination of colour and carefully considered form. Its intimate proportions make it particularly suited to a collector seeking a contemporary work that introduces vibrancy without overwhelming its surroundings. The piece offers a playful yet refined expression of Forsythe’s ongoing investigation into the emotional potential of colour.
