About
This painting is from a series where the artist experimented with passive mark making by covering his worktable with canvas. He captured spontaneous and unintentional paint marks as he worked on other projects and then used this marked canvas as the background for new works. In selectively erasing areas of these accidental marks, he composes a new, deliberately framed scene.
The composition also playfully references Yves Klein’s Anthropometries series, using a poison dart frog to allude to Klein’s body printing technique, which gives the piece a sense of life and movement.
