About

Genii 5 brings together circles, lines and sweeping geometric forms in a composition that feels both rhythmic and spontaneous. Translucent reds, blues and earthy browns overlap across the surface, allowing earlier layers to remain visible beneath the stronger passages of colour. The shifting relationships between the forms create a sense of movement without disrupting the overall balance of the work.

As part of Thompson's Genii series, the painting reflects her instinctive approach to abstraction. Her process is based on adding, adjusting and trusting the moment, allowing unexpected relationships between colour and shape to emerge organically. This openness gives the work an almost meditative quality, where the viewer can follow the movement of the forms without needing to resolve them into a fixed image.

The transparency of the paint creates subtle variations in depth, while the repeated circles and lines provide a visual rhythm across the composition. There is a sense of openness here, with each form appearing to respond to the next rather than existing in isolation. Genii 5 is an expressive contemporary abstract that combines colour, movement and quiet spiritual energy.
