About

Genii 3 reflects Susan Thompson's intuitive relationship with painting, where experimentation and instinct become part of the finished work. Soft washes of colour interact with geometric squares, curves and angled forms, creating layers that appear to shift between visibility and transparency. The overlapping elements give the composition a sense of discovery, as though each layer reveals something unexpected beneath it.

The title Genii speaks to the spiritual and intuitive dimension of Thompson's creative process. Rather than imposing a rigid structure, she allows colour, form and gesture to develop through a process of adding, adjusting and responding to what emerges. This creates an engaging tension between deliberate geometric structure and the freedom of spontaneous mark-making.

Vibrant contrasts bring energy to the composition while areas of transparency introduce quieter moments of depth. The result feels both carefully constructed and instinctive, reflecting Thompson's belief in allowing a painting to develop through the act of making. Genii 3 offers a sophisticated abstract presence for collectors drawn to expressive colour, layered surfaces and paintings that reward extended looking.
