About
This oversized cherry transforms something sweet and familiar into a bold piece of contemporary sculpture. Its brightly spray-painted surface is layered with hand-finished graffiti, pop-art imagery, typography and cheeky phrases, while the exaggerated black stem gives the piece an almost surreal scale.
Sweetness and innocence collide with something more provocative - exactly the contradiction at the heart of the piece. Colourful, humorous and deliberately a little naughty, the work plays with ideas of temptation, desire and pop culture without taking itself too seriously.
Designed to be discovered from every angle, different words, symbols and details appear as you
move around the sculpture. Sweet on the surface. Not quite so innocent underneath.
