Blue and Gold draws the viewer into a darker, more contemplative world. Deep indigo, near-black and forest green form a nocturnal foundation, while slabs of ochre and gold emerge like fragments of lamplight breaking through shutters.
The carefully interlocking blocks create a quiet architectural rhythm. Small flashes of coral and orange bring warmth into the darker passages, making the painting feel like a nightscape in which light is precious precisely because it appears in fragments.
