In Beautiful Lies, Zoe Moss reimagines one of literature's most enduring symbols to explore the delicate boundary between truth, imagination and perception. Pinocchio, forever associated with dishonesty, stands before a weathered urban landscape as his wooden nose blossoms into a flourishing branch adorned with vibrant flowers and delicate foliage. Rather than portraying deception as something destructive, Moss invites viewers to consider how stories, dreams and imagination often emerge from the very places where fact and fiction begin to blur.

The contrast between the gritty brick wall, layered graffiti and fragments of peeling plaster against the fragile beauty of flowers creates a compelling visual tension. A lone blue butterfly introduces a quiet sense of transformation, suggesting that beauty has the power to flourish even within environments shaped by imperfection. 

The title itself presents a thought-provoking paradox. Beautiful Lies asks whether every untruth should be condemned, or whether imagination, hope and creativity are, in themselves, beautiful fictions that enrich our lives.
