Collection: Bobby Forsythe
Bobby Forsythe is a British contemporary artist whose practice explores materiality, embodiment, perception and human interaction. She holds a BA in Fine Art from the University of Suffolk and an MA in Art History and Theory from the University of Essex. In 2020, she founded Supporting the Arts, an artist-led collective supporting and promoting emerging and established artists through annual exhibitions featuring local and international practitioners. Forsythe’s practice investigates how audiences experience and communicate with art through the body, extending participation beyond conventional tactile or visual engagement. Her work explores the subtle forms of bodily communication that occur between an individual, an artwork and the surrounding space, informing her development of large-scale interactive and motion-responsive works. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Art at the University of Suffolk, researching experiences of physical disability through large-scale light installation. The Suffolk landscape provides an important conceptual and material reference within her practice, inspiring immersive environments that encourage audiences to consider their own physical presence within a space. Resin is a central material in her work, valued for its ability to create sleek, vibrant and aesthetically calming surfaces while allowing her to explore movement, fluidity and colour. Through experimental processes and carefully considered colour palettes, Forsythe creates works that balance visual vibrancy with a sense of calm and emotional openness. Her evolving practice brings together material experimentation, colour, movement and embodied experience, inviting viewers to engage with art through both perception and physical presence.
